This past week, the “Hotevilla Roofers”—Wilfred Kaye, left, Edgar Rogers and Gale Albert, put in overtime in the extreme heat and high winds on their mesa top to tear off old roofing materials to replace with new watertight roofs for their honored and eldest tribal members.

FEMA & Hopi villages form partnership

HOTEVILLA--Utlizing special grant money against natural disasters from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Village of Hotevilla on Third Mesa of the Hopi Reservation and the other Hopi villages were able to provide money through their local village administrations for new roofs for their elderly members that had rain or flooding damage
