Hopi law enforcement respond to reports of cyberbullying of minors

KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz. — Hopi Law Enforcement Services (HLES) recently received reports of cyberbullying involving minors.

HLES stated that such matters are very sensitive as there are laws that protect minors.

Any reported incidents to Hopi law enforcement of cyberbullying involving minors are investigated and reported to the juvenile probation officer who works closely with the office of the prosecutor.

Court cases that are results of those investigations are subject to the Hopi Children’s Code and are processed through the Hopi Children’s Court.

HLES encourages parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of cyberbullying. More information about dealing with these issues and additional resources is available at stopbullying.gov.

HLES would like to remind the public that persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
