Chee 2nd annual 5K horse trail run June 18

The Chee 2nd annual 5k horse trail run takes place June 18 starting at 4 p.m. three quarters of a mile from the Tonalea General Store, on Route 21, mile post 3.

Entry fee for adults is $5 and $3 for kids 12 and younger.

Entry fee is $60. Cattleman entry fee: $50. Trail run entry fee: $60.

Prizes: first place is $500, plus a t-shirt

second place is $250, plus a tshirt, third place: $125, plus a t-shirt

Cattleman first prize is $150, plus t-shirt and two bales of hay; second place is $75, plus t-shirt, rope and a glove; third place: $50, plus t-shirt.

After the event 9 p.m. - 1 a.m., the JT Band, an outdoor country western band will perform.

Tickets: single $8, couple $10. First 25 people to enter will have a chance to win two free Diamondback tickets for July 4.

Two free WWE Monday night raw tickects for June 20 for best dressed and best dancing couple. Must be present to win.

Vendors will be on sight.

Running for a Stronger and Healthier Navajo Nation July 14-17

Running for a Stronger and Healthier Navajo Nation takes place July 14-17 to coincide with the horseback and bicycle ride for the summer session of the Navajo Nation Council. The run will start at Cove Chapter with participants choosing several different options on the course, which will proceed up to Buffalo Pass and then on top of the Chuska Mountains all the way to Fort Defiance and into Window Rock.

The To'Nanees' Dizi Local Government will conduct a community assement within the Tuba City Customary Grazing Boundaries in District 1-3, through Aug. 12. Chapter workers will visit yourhome, with your permission, to collect data, including GPS coordinates, assessing interior and exterior and conducting a short interview. The information will be used for data collection purposes, determining need for the community and obtaining rural addressing information. Workers will travel in marked chapter vehicles and will have picture ID. More information is available at (928) 283-3284.

Weatherization workshop in Tuba City June 18 and 19.

A free two-day home weatherization workshop is available to homeowners in the Tuba City, Arizona area on June 18 and 19. Two members of the class will have their homes weatherized by the class. Every attendee completing the class receives a home weatherization kit valued over $150.

The workshop is sponsored by Arizona Public Service (APS) and presented by Red Feather Development Group, a non-profit dedicated to safe and healthy housing on the Hopi and Navajo Reservations.
