Winslow Lady Bulldogs lose games to Cactus and Flagstaff, 13-7 on season

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Lady Bulldogs lost a pair of games in their last two outings falling to the Cactus Lady Cobras 16-6 in Phoenix March 22 and to the Flagstaff Lady Eagles 8-5 in Flagstaff March 25. The losses dropped Winslow's record to a still excellent 13-7.

In the game on March 22, the Cactus Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Bulldogs 16-6 in Phoenix. The win improved Cactus' record to 12-6.

Winslow took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning but Cactus scored five in the bottom of the frame. The third inning was similar when Winslow took a 6-5 lead in the top of the frame only to see Cactus go ahead 10-6 in the home half of the inning. The Lady Cobras scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and completed the scoring with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Sherreise Beaty took the loss working four innings and giving up 13 runs, only 10 of which were earned, on 10 hits. Justine Butterfield worked an inning and gave up three runs, only two of which were earned.

Winslow had only four hits in the contest. Beaty was one for one with a double. Morgan Thomas was one for two with a home run. Alyssa Smith was one for three with a home run and three RBIs. Gabby Gonzalez was also one for three.

In Friday's game at Flagstaff the Lady Eagles topped the Lady Bulldogs 8-5. No statistics from this game were available at press time.

The Lady Bulldogs will be at Glendale to meet the Ironwood Lady Eagles on Thursday and to meet the Coconino Lady Panthers in Flagstaff on Saturday.
