On Dec. 2, the Winslow Chamber of Commerce opened its Festival of Trees with a selection of 55 decorated Christmas trees and other Christmas décor up for auction style bidding. Written bids are placed in a box with the dollar amount bid and the item number. At the close of the festival winning bidders take home their tree or Christmas themed item for use in their home or business. The festival began in 1997 as a way for the Chamber of Commerce to make money to sponsor community activities, including the Fourth of July fireworks. The money will be earmarked for specific activities in the coming year during the Chamber Board meeting in January 2016.
