WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs baseball team suffered its second loss of the season March 13 to the Flagstaff Eagles 11-9 at Winslow. The loss left the Bulldogs with a 6-2 record heading into their rematch with the Eagles on Saturday in Flagstaff.
Colton Corum took the loss in relief, giving up four runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits, two walks and a hit batter. Kuster Kinlecheenie worked the first six innings and left with a 9-7 lead. He gave up seven runs, only three of which were earned, on 10 hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
Flagstaff scored three times in the first inning on a home run by Kyle Wilson, a single by Mike Pappas and two Winslow errors. The Bulldogs had a big second inning when they scored seven times for a 7-3 lead on singles by Rey Chavez-Velez, Adrian Montoya, Jon Bollin and Corum and a double by Henry Montiel and two Flagstaff errors.
Flagstaff got two runs in the fourth inning on singles by Tanner Fuhrmann and Mark Mesa and two errors to cut the Winslow lead to 7-5. Winslow scored in the bottom of the fifth on singles by Corum, Montoya and Caleb Cirre for an 8-5 lead.
Flagstaff scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to cut the Winslow lead to 8-7. The Eagles scored on a single by Trevor Buell and a home run by Kyle Wilson. Winslow increased the lead to 9-7 on a single by Corum, a double by Matt Cirre and a single by Montoya.
Flagstaff scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning on three hits, a hit batter and two walks. The hits were all singles by Buell, Mesa and Chris Baird. Winslow failed to score in the bottom of the seventh and final inning.
The Bulldogs take on the Camp Verde Cowboys on Wednesday at Winslow. They will also host the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets
