Youth basketball tourney Aug. 1-3 in Kykotsmovi

The Hopi Veterans Memorial Center will put on a Co-Ed Youth Basketball Tournament Aug. 1-3 in Kykotsmovi, Arizona, Hwy. 264 at milepost 375.5 at the Hopi Veterans Memorial Center.

The tourney will include a twelve to 15 year old bracket and a 15-18 year old bracket.

Teams must field a ten player roster (five girls and five boys).

The entry fee is $125 for both age groups and a $65 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot on the bracket is required.

Sheep, wool and weaving workshop July 13

A sheep, wool and weaving workshop will take place July 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Hubbell Trading Post located in Ganado, Arizona.

Events commence at 8 a.m. with a sheep butchering demonstration, Navajo Churro sheep and lamb exhibit and a continuous showing of the video "Gift from Talking God" in the visitor center.

The workshop is open to the public to visit the demonstrations. Artisans from surrounding areas will show their skills and demonstrate traditional Navajo rug weaving, vegetable dying, felting, cinch weaving and more.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own crafts and share what projects they are working on.

Fountain of Faith camp meeting July 7-12

Fountain of Faith Ministries is sponsoring a camp meeting July 7 through July 12 in Tonalea, Arizona located at milepost 342 on Route 6262, half a mile off Hwy. 160.

The camp meeting takes place at 6 p.m. nightly. Musicians and singers are welcome, as well as the public.

Guest speakers are Rev. Angela Begay, Pastor Ramsom Taylor and Pastor Elizabeth Bryant.

Navajo Rodeo Historical Society meeting July 4

The next quarterly meeting of the Navajo Rodeo Historical Society is July 4 at the Kayenta Union Hall in Kayenta, Arizona. The Kayenta Union Hall is located approximately one mile north of the Highway 160/163 junction, on the right side near Kayenta Chapter House.

The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. The agenda will include speakers, selection of organization name/logo, plus finalization of Articles of Incorporation and organization Bylaws. The public is invited to the meeting.
