Lady Bulldogs dominate Window Rock, Winslow boys fall to Scouts 52-44 after losing first quarter lead
WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Window Rock Lady Scouts 64-40 Dec. 2 in Window Rock. The loss was Window Rocks first and left them at 0-1.
The Lady Bulldogs started strong and led 13-6 after the first quarter. The margin was 37-18 at the half and 56-29 after three quarters of play.
Shandiin Armao led all scorers with 22 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Jayce Sangster and Adrianna Singer were also in double figures for Winslow with 12 points each. Kalli Hunter scored nine points for the Lady Bulldogs. Danielle Smiley paced Window Rock with 11 points. Tiana Francis was also in double figures for Window Rock with 10 points. Alicia Hale scored nine points for the Lady Scouts.
The Window Rock Scouts defeated the Winslow Bulldogs 52-44 in Window Rock Dec. 2. Window Rock's win was their first of the season leaving them with a 1-0 record. The loss dropped Winslow's record to 1-1 for the season. The Bulldogs faced the Holbrook Roadrunners Dec. 9. Holbrook is 5-2 for the season.
The Bulldogs started strong and led 18-8 after the first quarter but were outscored in each of the last three periods. Winslow still led 28-25 at the intermission but had fallen behind by a single point 36-35 at the end of the third quarter and was outscored 16-0 in the final period.
Trent Long of Window Rock was the only player on either team in double figures with 19 points. Myron Wauneka scored nine points for the Scouts. Akkeem Foster and Mark Faust both scored eight points for Winslow.
