Winslow Bulldogs basketball team enjoys productive summer schedule

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs basketball team enjoyed a busy and productive summer while participating in tournaments and events at a number of locations.

Coach Ricky Greer reported the team played at Mesa Community College where they won two games and lost one, at Blue Ridge where they won three games and lost two, at Valley Christian where they lost all three games played, at Northern Arizona University where they won all seven games played and won their division and at the University of California where they won two games and lost four. The summer record wound up with 14 wins and 10 losses

Players on the team included Devon Flanagan, Jalen Tapaha, Trelonnie Sanders, Thurman Tso, Delvin Benally, Jalen Brady, Rory Billie, Trevon Flanagan, Martin Brinkley, Akkeem Foster, Nate Hanley, Avery Smith, Tylon Yazzie, Austyn Mattox, Luke Hunt, Savion Fuller and Nick Aberle.

At Mesa Community College Winslow defeated Kingman Academy 54-46 and Tempe Prep 72-43 before losing to Desert Mountain 47-41.

At Blue Ridge the Bulldogs lost to Show Low 51-39, beat Many Farms 60-37 and Page 61-26, lost to Snowflake 58-30 and defeated Blue Ridge 49-43.

At Valley Christian Winslow lost to Valley Christian 66-38, Combs 46-42 and Scottsdale Christian 52-49. All of those were top quality basketball teams.

At Northern Arizona University the Bulldogs won all seven of their games and the small schools division. They beat Pinon 72-55, Cove 76-38, Thoreau 75-21, Lee Williams 59-28, Cove again 80-49, Window Rock 71-56 and Arcadia 75-47.

At the University of California, Winslow lost to Diego Hills Prep 73-23, defeated Arrowhead Christian 48-44 and Tempe Prep 49-48 before losing to Windsor 57-47 and to Rancho Buena Vista in a tight game 32-31.
