Winslow art auction a success

The Winslow Arts Council put on their fifth annual Art Sweet Arts event featuring art, food and silent auctions Feb. 9 at the Hubble Chamber of Commerce Building. Doors opened at 6 p.m. and the event lasted until 9:30 p.m.

Organizers auctioned 60 pieces of art in addition to food and other items. Winslow High students and Natsaway family members provided musical entertainment. Around 60 people bid on the auction items with many city representatives in attendance.

The annual event raisies money to provide free art and cultural enrichment in Winslow. The Arts Council is self-supporting and does not receive money from the city of Winslow. The art auction generated around $4,000, which will enable the Arts Council to bring quality cultural and entertainment events to Winslow in 2013. About 17 people, including a number of volunteers, put the event together. Arts Council members thank Dr. Greg Hackler, the event's auctioneer, along with Dale Patton and Peggy Wilson for their support.
