Blue Ridge, Snowflake, Show Low and Winslow remain undefeated

NORTHERN ARIZONA - The high school football teams from the northern part of Arizona and the Navajo and Hopi reservations had another busy Friday night of football. There were winners and losers among the teams expected to challenge for state championship berths. Blue Ridge, Snowflake, Show Low and Winslow all won relatively easy to stay undefeated at 2-0 in the young season.

Snowflake easily bested Alchesay 52-7 at Snowflake but will face a formidable task on Friday when they entertain top ranked Blue Ridge. The Yellowjackets after two close wins against quality opponents rolled over Page 57-7 at Pinetop on Friday to move to 3-0.

Winslow had another relatively easy road win over the Holbrook Roadrunners 42-7. The Bulldogs will host the Flagstaff Eagles on Friday in their first home game. Flagstaff defeated Mohave 27-14 at Flagstaff in their Friday outing.

Show Low blasted past the Florence Gophers 58-0 at Show Low on Friday. The Cougars will journey to Eagar this Friday to meet the Round Valley Elks. Round Valley lost to the St. Johns Redskins 21-7 at home on Friday to fall to 1-1 for the season.

The Window Rock Fighting Scouts remained undefeated with a 44-0 win over the Valley Sanders Pirates in Window Rock on Friday but will have a test in St. Johns this Friday against the 1-1 Redskins who defeated Round Valley 21-7 after a season opening loss to powerful Show Low.

The Chinle Wildcats evened their record at 1-1 with a 53-26 win over the Ganado Hornets at Ganado after a season opening loss to the Monument Valley Mustangs. Chinle will meet the Page Sand Devils at Page this Friday. Page fell to 0-2 with their loss to top ranked Blue Ridge.

The Red Mesa Redskins stayed undefeated with a thrilling 54-48 offensive show over the Many Farms Lobos at Red Mesa on Friday. The Redskins will play the Rock Point Cougars at Rock Point this Friday. The Cougars are 1-1 with a 66016 loss to the tough Joseph City Wildcats and a 46-28 win over the Ash Fork Spartans on Friday.

The Hopi Bruins evener their record at 1-1 with a 52-6 win over Rough Rock Community School at Polacca. The Bruins had lost their season opener 46-18 to the Pinon Eagles. Hopi will play the Ganado Hornets in Ganado this Friday.

The Tuba City Warriors defeated the Greyhills Knights 20-0 in Tuba City on Friday to move to 2- after a 1-0 forfeit win over Rough Rock Community School. The Warriors will host the 0-2 Sedona Red Rock Scorpions this Friday.

The Coconino Panthers fell to 1-1 with a heartbreaking 1-13 loss to the Paradise Valley Trojans at home on Friday. This Friday they will host the Kingman Bulldogs who lost their season opener and met Lake Havasu on Friday in a game the score of which was not reported.

The Mingus Marauders evened their season record at 1-1 with a 23-7 win over the Bradshaw Mountain Bears at Cottonwood after a tough 16-13 season opening loss to top ranked Blue Ridge. Mingus will play the Chino Valley Cougars at Chino "valley this Friday. The Cougars are 0-2 for the season.
