Halloween bash Oct. 31 in Tuba City

The Office of Youth Development/Boys and Girls Club of Dine Nation will present a Halloween bash 3-6 p.m. Oct. 31 in front of the Tuba City Community Center.

Enjoy games, costume contest, free throw contest (win a T-shirt), entertainment and food. A haunted house will be open 7-10 p.m. The cost to enter the haunted house is $1 or one can of food.

Navajo Self Reliance Office has moved

The Navajo Nation Program for Self Reliance Fort Defiance Field Office has moved to the Quality Inn Office Complex, 48 W. Highway 264, Quality Inn Office Complex, Suite 112 in Window Rock, Ariz.

Upcoming events at Tuba City Boarding School

The Office of Youth Development at Tuba City Boarding School (TCBS) is pleased to announce several upcoming events.

The Fall Youth Basketball League will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 29. The league will meet 5:30-8 p.m. in the TCBS gym. The league is for youth ages 6-7 and 8-10.

The Mini Miss Western Navajo Pageant will be held 6-10 p.m. Oct. 16 in the TCBS gym. The pageant is for young ladies 6-9-years-old. The Lil' Western Navajo Pageant will be held 6-10 p.m. Oct. 16 in the TCBS gym. Contestants must be 10-12-years-old. Eligibility criteria includes the following: must be an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation with a census no; must have knowledge of tribal culture and traditions; and must be enrolled and attending school in Western Navajo Agency.

A Day for Kids will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Tuba City Fairgrounds. To setup a booth, please contact Elsie Begay or Kyra Dash at (928) 283-3022.

Co-ed hoop tournament in Holbrook Oct. 20-21

Teams must register before 4 p.m. on Friday, for the third annual coed basketball tournament on Oct. 20-21, at the Holbrook High School Gymnasium. Northland Pioneer College's Student Government Association (SGA) is the tournament sponsor.

The entry fee is $50 per team, with the first place team going home with $500 and the second place team winning $250. Each team will consist of five players, with two permanent substitutions allowed.

Games begin at 10 a.m. on both days. Admission is $2 for adults and free for 10 and under.

Coalmine Canyon youth needed to organize Halloween carnival

The Coalmine Canyon Community Events Committee is seeking Coalmine Canyon community youth for a volunteer opportunity to collaborate in assisting with the First Annual Halloween Carnival. The carnival is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. (DST) Oct. 27 at the Coalmine Canyon Chapter.

Aces Wild Dance Oct. 18-19

Aces Wild Dance will be held Oct. 18-19 at the Coalmine Chapter House in Coalmine, Ariz. The cost is $10 per person. For more information, contact Marlene Brown at (928) 853-4894.

Farmers market open to all through Oct. 10

St. Jude Food Bank in Tuba City is opening a farmers' market. The market will be open every Wednesday 5:30-7:30 p.m. through Oct. 10.

Local farmers are encouraged to sell crops at the market. There will also be cooking demonstrations, health screenings and several informational booths at the market as well. The event is sponsored by Johns Hopkins Institute. For more information, call (928) 283-6886.

Fall Harvest Festival Saturday at Leppin Ranch

The Leppin Ranch in Winslow extends an invitation to all to come and enjoy the

Annual Fall Harvest Festival. The festival will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Leppin Ranch, 102 Papago Blvd., Winslow. Enjoy live pumpkin, melon and vegetable picking in addition to hayrides and food and beverages. Pet and paint Princess the Pony while enjoying entertainment and other exciting events. Welcome back Donovan George

Everyone is invited to welcome back U.S. Army Spc. Donovan Lee George of the 842nd Engineer Company at 9 a.m. (MST) tomorrow in Dilcon.

Spc. George completed his first tour of duty in Afghanistan. The celebration will take place at the residence of Jimmy and Marie George of Dilcon. The Honor Bike Riders of Navajo Nation and other are welcome to join and horseback riders will be joining in the paade.
