TUBA CITY, Ariz. - Boys and Girls Clubs of Dine Nation would like to express appreciation to all who volunteered for the "Lets Spring N 2 Action" Community Clean Up on Feb. 19.

Over 50 volunteers assisted in this event, altogether 14 truckloads of trash was disposed of. Edgewater Drive, Main Street, Post Office to Junction 160 and 264 and Moenkopi Hitchhikers Point to Junction 160 and 264 were targeted for the trash pick-up. Despite the wind and light rain, volunteers pressed on and were rewarded with a free cookout in the end. In addition, community service logs were provided for college scholarships and/or other programs but more than half of the volunteers, contributed their free time to clean up their community.

Donations of trash bags, gloves, water, snacks and food were provided by the following entities: Navajo Generating Station (SRP/NGS), Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency (NNEPA), Hopi Legacy Inn, 7-2-11 Store, St. Judes Food Bank, and Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA). The following groups of valuable Volunteers were: Award Winning TCHS MCJROTC Cadets, Local National Honor Society's, Maryboy Catering and members of Navajo Baptist Church. Thank you for supporting TC BGC youth initiatives. The next Trash Pick-up was scheduled for March 10 and another will follow on April 14 in conjunction with Earth Day activities. Watch for flyers.
