Spring sports going strong at Indian Wells Elementary School
School has softball, soccer teams
HOLBROOK, Ariz. - The spring sports season is in full swing at Indian Wells Elementary School (IWES). The IWES Roadrunners compete in both soccer and softball during the spring season. As has been the case all year at IWES, because of the high number of student athletes, there are two softball teams and two soccer teams. This benefits the school as it gives more students the chance to participate in sports. It also benefits the league as it gives all students the chance to compete in more games.
The IWES softball A team, coached by Amanda Boyce, has gotten off to a slow start this year with two losses, but continues to improve. They are led by students Aaron McCabe, Julia Dale, and Alex Hatch. The IWES softball B team is coached by Ryan Attakai and is led by a strong core of sixth grade students such as Dakota Dick, Jared Woody, J.E. Cummings, and Cody Wilson. The softball season will be finishing up on Friday with the finals tournament to be held at Star School.
The two IWES soccer teams are coached by Laura Tsosie and John-Paul Hunt and have both posted undefeated records to this point. Soccer stars for the Roadrunners include Tyler Paul, Tristen Ambrose, Kayla Tso, Jaron Woody, Tashina Nelson, and Devin Etsitty. The soccer season will conclude on Monday with the finals tournament.
