Hayden Walton, grandson of Charles McLaws, poses with his trophy and his current ride - a half scale lightweight top fuel chassis powered by a 3.5 McGee alcohol burning motor. Walton was a runner-up at the Firebird International Raceway in Chandler on March 5. Walton started out with a field of 25 other competitors and ran 7.94, 7.98. 7.92, 7.96, 7.94 on a 7.90 index at 83-85 miles per hour. This was his first race in a car new to him. On an aside note, this car runs a muffler and is unbelievably quiet.
