Fireworks will light up Tuba City's skies Sunday

TUBA CITY, Ariz. - Coconino County Supervisor Lena Fowler is pleased to announce that her office and several community agencies will be bringing another fireworks display to Tuba City on Sunday. Building upon the tremendous success of last year's events, another celebration was planned for this year.

Coconino County is pleased to work with Fireworks Productions of Arizona (FPA) again this year, which ensures another spectacular 30-minute show at Tuba City High School. There are several community partners involved in these efforts. They include Coconino County, Tuba City Navajo Nation Public Safety, Tuba City Fire and Rescue Department, Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation and the Tuba City Unified School District.

The fireworks display will start at approximately 9 p.m. DST. Fowler's office hopes to provide another free community cookout and live country western band prior to the fireworks show but, donations and a sufficient number of volunteers will determine the number of additional activities taking place this year. Flyers will be posted around the community reflecting up-to-date information as Sunday approaches. All events will take place at the Tuba City High School Football Field.

These community events were arranged primarily for safety reasons. The objectives are to promote public safety and provide free entertainment and fun events for the community during these difficult economic times.

Volunteers and donations are being sought for these events. Please consider participating to help ensure a safe and successful event. If you would like to get involved, sponsor an activity, or request more information please contact Fowler's office: (928) 283-4518, email
