SHOW LOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs defeated the Show Low Cougars and Lady Cougars in Show Low last Tuesday.
The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Show Low Lady Cougars 80-27 in the non-regional basketball game. The win improved Winslow's record to 13-4 with a 3-0 regional record.
The Lady Bulldogs took a commanding 26-7 lead in the first period and were up
48-11 at the half. The margin was a massive 62-13 after three quarters.
Felencia Keams led all scoffers with 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs who also had Coney Nez, Taramika Lee and Mattea Begaii with 11 points each in double figures. Rebeka Young was in double digits for the Lady Cougars with 10 points.
The Bulldogs defeated the Show Low Cougars 64-59 in overtime in a non-regional basketball game played at Show Low on Tuesday. The win improved Winslow's record to 18-4 and their regional record stayed at 3-0.
Show Low started strong and led the Bulldogs 21-19 after the first quarter but Winslow had a strong defensive second period and led 32-27 at the half. Show Low was back in front by a single point 43-42 after three quarters and the game was tied 54-54 at the end of regulation. The Bulldogs outscored the Cougars 10-5 in the overtime to take the victory.
Kraig Shirley led all scorers with 24 points for the Bulldogs. Tyler Williams with 13 points and Michael Goldtooth with 10 were also in double figures for Winslow. Show Low had four players in double figures but only five who scored. Ian Zimmerman led the Cougars with 16 points. Austin Smith scored 15, Josh Weeks 13 and Rathen Ricedorff added 10 points.
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were to host Ganado on Thursday in a 3A North Region game and play another regional game at Kayenta on Saturday against the Monument Valley Mustangs and Lady Mustangs. They will host Holbrook next Tuesday in another regional contest.
