WINSLOW, Ariz. - Carlton Timms presented a three hour awareness class at Hopi Housing on Jan. 11. The information was presented at the Hopi Housing Offices. A visual presentation identified many current products consumed and provided summaries of ages affected, current consumption trends, past levels of abuse and range of substances available for abuse.

Timms is a Prevention Development Coordinator with "Community Bridges," a Mesa-based organization that conducts outpatient behavioral health programs. Community Bridges has centers in Winslow and Holbrook as well as throughout southern Arizona. They are also associated with Navajo County's drug prevention efforts.

According to information provided, there are four levels of addiction that are identified by the level of severity. Level four is the least severe with treatment available at local stabilization centers. Levels one through three are more severe and require more intense intervention and medical support.
