Bulldogs win first round pair at White Mountain Tournament

PINETOP, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs defeated both the San Luis Sidewinders and the Alchesay Falcons last Tuesday in first round games of the White Mountain Tournament at Blue Ridge High School. The wins improved Winslow's record to 9-5 as tournament play continued on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs defeated the San Luis Sidewinders 74-43 in their first game on Tuesday. The Bulldogs built a double digit 21-10 first quarter lead and were in total control 45-16 at the half. The margin was 67-36 after three quarters.

Tyler Williams led all scorers with 21 points for Winslow. Kraig Shirley with 14 points and Jevon Estelle with 10 points were also in double figures for the Bulldogs. Orlando Lopez with 15 points and Mark Ochoa with 11 were in double figures for the Sidewinders.

Later on Tuesday, the Bulldogs defeated the Alchesay Falcons 75-58. Winslow led

20-16 after a close first quarter but had pulled away to a substantial 43-28 lead by the half. The margin was a commanding 68-40 after three quarters of play.

Kraig Shirley led all scorers with 23 points for the Bulldogs. Tyler Williams with 16 points and Jevon Estelle with a dozen were also in double figures for Winslow. E. Loos led Alchesay with 20 points.

Tournament play was to continue on Wednesday with some of the games being designated as pool play.
