Winslow High School football coach resigns

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Unified School District Governing Board accepted the resignation of Winslow High School football coach Gene "Rusty" Robertson during its last January meeting. Robertson came to Winslow from Hopi High School with a reputation of being a coach who was good with his players and encouraged them to play hard and learn.

His teams won the 3A North Region during each of his four years in Winslow and played well in the state tournament before being eliminated.

Robertson had a talented staff of assistant coaches at Winslow and it is likely that his successor will be one of those assistants.

He and his wife Hope are moving to Auburn, Neb. where he has two children and six grandchildren living. He said that he does not have employment lined up but will probably find work of some kind. He believes, though that he is through with teaching and coaching at least for now.
