Dilkon open house

DILKON, Ariz.-The new Dilkon Wellness Center will have an Open House on today beginning at 10 a.m. (DST) with traditional home blessing at 7 a.m. by local medicine man, according to Thomasita Tsosie, Program Supervisor I, Dilkon Service Area.

"We are really excited to finally reach this part of our goal for wellness in the Dilkon and surrounding communities," said Tsosie. "It's been an experience for all of us involved in the project for the past two years to get the Wellness Center up and in operation. We've had people asking about the facility wanting to know when it will be open and when they can start working out. I am glad to say that now we can give them a definite answer."

The Open House program will include Rex Lee Jim, Vice President of the Navajo Nation is listed as guest speaker.

Acting Certificate of Appreciation will be given to all those who had a hand in the completion of the Dilkon Wellness Center. Following the luncheon, Evelyn Mahkee, Fitness Specialist with the Window Rock Wellness Center, will do Zumba Dancing with all those who would like to have their first workout at the facility.

Guided tours of the facility will be provided by NNSDP staff. The general public, local tribal officials, and health officials, are all invited to attend the Open House.

The cost of the building is $913,691.92 with numerous change orders funded by N NSDP. The total cost for the infrastructure was $81,399.00 and it funded by the Dilkon Chapter.

The architect was for the project was Loren V Sadler Architect, Inc. of Winslow, Az. And the general contractor was US Modular Group, Inc., of Chandler, Ariz. Sierra Building System and NTUA provided the infrastructure construction services. Navajo Nation Office of Design Engineering Services and Brown & Associates provided the review and construction inspection services.
