WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Ganado Hornets 13-0 in a 3A North Region baseball game played on Thursday. The win improved Winslow's record to 13-7 for the season.
The Bulldogs plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning on a triple by Vittorio Sells, a single by Colton Corum, a walk, a single by Jevon Estelle and a double by Rhett Hardy. The lead increased to 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning on a hit batsman, a walk, an error and doubles by Matt Smith and Sam Setalla. Five runs in the bottom of the third inning gave the Bulldogs a commanding 12-0 lead. James Martinez, Colton Corum and Jevon Estelle had singles in the rally. Matt Smith doubled and there were three errors. The final run scored in the bottom of the fourth inning on a hit batsman, a walk and a wild pitch.
Colton Corum was two for two. James Martinez was one for one. Matt Smith was two for three with a double. Jevon Estelle was also two for three. Rhett Hardy was one for two with a double. Vittorio Sells was one for three with a triple. Sam Setalla was one for three with a double.
Sam Setalla got the win working three innings and giving up no hits, six walks and fanning six Hornets. Avery Dashee worked the final two innings of the game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout.
The Bulldogs still had to play the Hopi Bruins at Polacca on Friday and the Snowflake Lobos at Snowflake on Saturday to complete their busiest week of the season.
