The first week of mostly regional action in the 3A North Region saw Window Rock, Holbrook and Winslow post victories. For Window Rock and Holbrook the wins were in their first regional games and left them all with 1-0 regional records. Winslow had defeated Tuba City in the only regional game last week and the win over Ganado left the Bulldogs with a 2-0 regional mark.
The Bulldogs bested the Ganado Hornets 48-6 to improve to 2-0 in the region and 2-2 for the season. Winslow will journey to Chinle on Friday to meet the Chinle Wildcats who have not played a regional game. The Wildcats lost to the tough 3A East Region Show Low Cougars at Show Low and are 3-1 after the loss.
The Holbrook Roadrunners may have gotten the most important win of the night with a 20-6 victory over the Monument Valley Mustangs at Kayenta. Holbrook improved to 2-2 for the season and 1-0 in the region. Monument Valley fell to 2-2 for the season and 0-1 in the region. Holbrook will meet the Window Rock Scouts at Holbrook on Friday in another important regional contest. The Monument Valley Mustangs will host the Ganado Hornets
(1-2, 0-1) on Friday.
The Window Rock Scouts had an important 43-0 win over the Tuba City Warriors at Window Rock on Friday to improve their record to a perfect 4-0 for the season and 1-0 in the region. Their game at Holbrook will probably leave the winner a likely state playoff qualifier although both have important contests with Winslow left on their schedules and Window Rock has the Monument Valley Mustangs at Kayenta to deal with.
