The 3A North Region football teams played almost a full schedule of non-regional games on Friday, Sept.3 with four wins and only one loss. Winslow defeated Tuba City 51-13 in the only regional game that night. Three teams remained undefeated at 2-0 after wins that night.
In September 23 action Window Rock blasted 2A Many Farms 66-0 at Many Farms to improve to 2-0 for the season. The Scouts were host the Alchesay Falcons on Friday, Sept. 10 and will open their regional schedule at home against Tuba City on Friday.
The Monument Valley Mustangs defeated the Alchesay Falcons 20-6 at White River on Sept. 3 to improve to 2-0 in the region. The Mustangs were at the 4A Page Sand Devils on Sept. 10 and will open their regional schedule by hosting the Holbrook Roadrunners on Friday in what should be an important battle for a playoff slot.
The Chinle Wildcats also remained undefeated after Sept. 23 games with a 47-20 win over the 2A Hopi Bruins at Chinle. The Wildcats took their 2-0 record against 2A Red Mesa at Chinle on Sept. 10. They may well take a 3-0 mark into their toughest non-regional game of the season on Friday at Show Low against the tough 3A East Region Cougars.
The Ganado Hornets evened their record at 1-1 with a 46-14 win over Red Mesa at Ganado on Sept. 3. The Hornets were off on Sept. 10 but will play the Winslow Bulldogs at Winslow on Friday for their regional opener.
The Holbrook Roadrunners were the only 3A North Region team to lose a non-regional game on Sept. 3 when they fell 35-6 to the tough 3A East Region Snowflake Lobos. The Roadrunners had what may have been an even tougher match against the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets, another 3A East Region power at Holbrook on Sept. 10. Friday, the Roadrunners will be at Monument Valley for an important regional game against the Mustangs.
The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Tuba City Warriors 51-13 in the first regional game of the year at Winslow on Sept. 3. The Bulldogs were to host mighty Snowflake on Oct. 10 and will host Ganado in their second regional game on Friday. Winslow improved to 1-1 with the win over Tuba City.
The Tuba City Warriors fell to 0-2 with the loss to Winslow and were the only 3A North Region team, without a win going into their contest on Friday, Sept. 17 game at Window Rock. The Warriors were off on Sept. 10.
