At the historic Hubbell building in Winslow on Oct. 12, the Winslow Arts Council presented a cooking and recipe demonstration put on by Chef Dominique Kramer and her staff. Dominique is the chef for Winslow High School and is interested in the promotion of good tasting healthy foods for everyone.

By introducing lower fat and lower sugar meals to the students, she is educating them on the wider range of food choices available outside the fast food fare. The students are accepting the new food options and are enthusiastic about the new food choices.

Dominique and her assistants (chief assistant Lorena Mera, Helen Mayberry and Sue Atkins) prepared Jamaica Apple Salad, Apple Chicken Stir Fry and Apple Desert at the demonstration. Since it's the Fall season, apples were the theme. In addition to preparation, the four brought individual samples for the entire audience.

November may hold another culinary demonstration including audience samples, so keep reading the NHO for the date and time.
