WINSLOW, Ariz. - Experience a "picture perfect Christmas" on Saturday, Nov. 20 during the 64th Annual Christmas Parade in downtown Winslow. The parade, which starts at 1 p.m., will officially kick off this year's holiday season with fun and joy. Winslow's downtown streets will be lined with plenty of arts, crafts and food vendors.
The theme of this year's parade is "A Picture-perfect Christmas." This year's Grand Marshal is Judge Alison Kolomitz. Please remember that canned party spray, spray string, poppers or other pressurized items are strictly prohibited and are not to be sold or used near the Christmas parade grounds or staging areas.
Parade entries are still being accepted. Anyone wishing to enter can pick up an application at the Winslow Chamber of Commerce at 523 W. Second St., or call them to have an application faxed to you.
This year's route will be the same as last year's. It will start on Third Street and Prairie Avenue, traveling east on Second Street to Apache Avenue, turn south one block to Second Street, turn west on Second Street and end at Campbell Avenue.
Santa Claus will be at the Visitor Center to visit with and talk to kids and hear their Christmas wish list.
Vendor fees are waived this year, but locations are not designated or set up and will be on a "first come, first serve" basis. If you will be setting up in front of a business, please make sure you have permission of the proprietor before setting up. Those who wish to sell food items will need a valid food handler's permit. If you don't have one, you may pick up an application at the Navajo County Health Department located at 619 E. Third St. or you may also download a parade application from
For those less fortunate, donations of food and toys will be taken at the Visitor Center. Donations can also be taken to Pioneer Title Co., located at 300 W. Third St. Suggested donations include non-perishable food items, canned goods, potatoes, flour, sugar and anything that a family would enjoy during the holiday season. Your donations are sure to brighten the holidays for many needy families and individuals.
