Flagstaff Symphony presents 'Romance of Russia' concert
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra presents its fourth concert of the season on Friday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in NAU's Ardrey Auditorium. Robust tones, booming notes and ravenous phrases structure this performance, titled "The Romance of Russia."
Principal French horn player Nancy Sullivan is featured in a concerto inspired by classic Russian nationalist style.
The performance portrays music from three Russian composers who bring to life the very aspects that reflect the eastern country. The unique compositions of Mikhail Glinka, Reinhold Gliere and Alexander Borodeen range from peasantlike folk tales to bold and resounding creations.
All three composers reflect aspects of the motherland in their music, and build upon Russia's incredible history, experiences and landscape.
