Contract for 'Renaissance III' phase of major street improvements awarded

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The city of Winslow is moving ahead with more major street improvements. The next phase, called Renaissance III, is the third phase in a multi phase project for improving the major vehicular arteries within the city limits.

The project is in the west end of town, on Third Street running from Fleming to Hipkoe Drive. This is the divided highway that was the Route 66 west entrance before Interstate 40 was put into service.

The project includes asphalt roadway, concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters, traffic and pedestrian lights, landscaping and irrigation controls.

Nine bids were received and opened on Dec. 1. After review by Woodson Engineering and city staff, the mayor and city council awarded the contract to McCauley Construction.

This includes the base bid and the second alternative bid. The total cost was not to exceed $1,529,474.
