Winslow Lady Bulldogs shut out Valley Sanders Lady Pirates

SANDERS, Ariz. - The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Valley Sanders Lady Pirates 15-0 in a softball game played in Sanders on Friday. The win improved Winslow's record to 25-2. The Lady Bulldogs finished the season undefeated in the 3A North Region and will not play in the regional tournament until the semi-final game on Friday in Winslow. Their opponent is yet to be determined.

The Lady Bulldogs had no trouble with Valley Sanders either on offense or defense as pitcher Mallory Smith turned in a one hit shutout for the victory in a game limited to five innings due to the 10 run mercy rule. Smith had 10 strikeouts.         

Winslow scored five runs in the first inning on four hits and two errors, including a home run by Kyli Parsons. The Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the scoring with a

10-run second inning that included seven hits. After that inning Winslow even resorted to making intentional outs to hurry the end of the contest being played in less than comfortable weather conditions.

The Lady Bulldogs had 16 hits led by Felicia Nagle who was four for four. Rebecca Perez was two for two with a double. Halley Hancock was one for one. Mireya Ulibarri was three for four with a double. Bernice Gover was two for three with a double. Gabby Stacey was one for two. Smith and Jennifer Yazzie were one for three with Smith having a double. Parsons was one for four with a home run.
