Logging begins near Mountainaire, Mormon Lake

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Logging operations on the Saginaw and Mormon Lake Basin projects are scheduled to begin this fall. Duration of operations will depend on how quickly the contractors are able to complete their projects.

The public is urged to use caution while in the vicinity of these two projects, as heavy equipment will be present.

Operations have begun on the Saginaw Project. The cutting area is located south and west of the community of Mountainaire, and haul routes will include Forest Road 700 and FR 700H accessing the I-17 Kelly Canyon Exit.

Activity on the Mormon Lake Basin Project will take place southwest of Mormon Lake Village and is expected to begin this month. Contractors will be using FR 90 (Mormon Lake Road) and FR 219 to access the project area.

Maps of the project areas will be available at www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/conditions. For other information, contact the Peaks Ranger Station at (928) 526-0866.
