3A North teams winless for third week
The 3A North Region continued to have a world of trouble in non-regional games at the start of the current football season. All five teams from the region, which played on Friday, lost. The only undefeated team going into Friday's game was Winslow which lost to Snowflake 37-12. The Bulldogs will take a 2-1 record to Ganado on Friday.
The Ganado Hornets did not play this past Friday, but were 0-2 before with a pair of one sided losses to smaller 2A schools Canyon State (41-13) and Red Mesa (38-6). Winslow had won its first two games over Round Valley (28-14) and Sinagua (53-6).
Chinle fell to a surprisingly strong for a 2A Conference team Red Mea 64-14. The Wildcats fell to 1-2 having previously beaten Many Farms 53-6 and lost to Hopi 37-7. All of Chinle's opponents have been 2A Conference schools. The Wildcats are the only team playing a non-regional game on Friday as they host the tough Show Low Cougars from the powerful 3A East Region.
Holbrook fell to top ranked Blue Ridge 57-0 to drop to 1-2 for the season. The Roadrunners had defeated Greyhills 64-0 and lost to Snowflake 15-6 in their first two games. Holbrook will host Monument Valley on Friday in what could be an important regional opener for both teams.
The Monument Valley Mustangs fell to 4A Page 34-26 to drop to 0-3 for the season. The Mustangs had lost to that surprising Red Mesa team 28-16 in their opener and to the Alchesay Falcons of the 3A East Region 35-19. Both Alchesay and Red Mesa have fared well against 3A North Region opponents.
The Window Rock Scouts were a victim of Alchesay on Friday, losing 26-14 to the Falcons at White River. The loss evened Window Rock's record at 1-1. The Scouts had defeated Many Farms 55-0 after a bye the first week. Window Rock is at Tuba City on Friday for the regional opener for both teams.
The Tuba City Warriors had a bye on Friday but had lost their first two games to Hopi 15-0 and 24-0 to Page. The Warriors will not only be looking for their first win, but will be seeking their first score of the season.
