Bulldogs atop 3A North following win over Scouts

The Winslow Bulldogs remained undefeated in the 3A North Region with a 65-12 win over the Window Rock Scouts in Winslow last Friday. The victory left the Bulldogs with a 6-1 record for the season and a perfect 4-0 in the 3A North Region. The Bulldogs will play at Sedona Red Rock in their final non-regional contest on Friday. Sedona Red Rock is winless at 0-7 after a 55-14 loss to Wickenburg.

Window Rock fell to 2-4 for the season and 1-2 in the region. The Scouts will host Monument Valley in a game that could still have playoff implications.

The Holbrook Roadrunners remained in second place in the region after a 55-6 win over the Tuba City Warriors at Tuba City. The win improved Holbrook's record to 4-3 for the season and 3-1 in the region. The Roadrunners will be at Chinle on Friday and need only wins over the Wildcats and the Ganado Hornet team to clinch at least second in the region.

The Tuba City Warriors fell to 0-6 for the season and 0-3 in the region with their loss to Holbrook. The Warriors will be at Ganado on Friday to take on the 1-5 Hornets who are 1-2 in the region. This game is between two teams that are virtually eliminated from playoff consideration.

Monument Valley hammered the Chinle Wildcats 63-12 to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Mustangs improved to 3-4 for the season and 3-1 in the region. This was Monument Valley's third straight win after a 0-4 start to the season. The Mustangs will be at Window Rock on Friday in a game they need to win to maintain any playoff hopes. They have a non-regional game against Snowflake and a final home game at Winslow left and would probably need to win all three to have any chance of making the state playoffs.

With just three games left in the season, Winslow is 4-0 in the region and 6-1 for the season. The Bulldogs will face Tuba City in a regional contest. The final game in Winslow could have some playoff implications as the Bulldogs host Monument Valley.

Holbrook and Monument Valley are tied at 3-1 in the region but the Roadrunners own a victory over the Mustangs. Holbrook is 4-3 for the season and has Chinle on the road and Ganado at home left in regional games. They finish the season with a non-regional game at Chino Valley. Monument Valley is 3-4 for the season and has Window Rock and Winslow left in the region with both games on the road. They also have a tough non-regional game between those regional games when they host the powerful Snowflake Lobos from the 3A East Region.

Window Rock is 1-2 in the region and 2-4 for the season with home games left against Monument Valley, Chinle and Ganado. A sweep by the Scouts might make them a long shot for the playoffs. Ganado is also 1-2 in the region and 1-5 for the season. The Hornets have Tuba City, Holbrook and Window Rock left with the Roadrunners and Scouts on the road. Both Chinle and Tuba City are 0-3 in the region. Chinle is 1-5 for the season and Tuba city is winless at 0-6. Neither has any chance of making the playoffs. Chinle has Holbrook, window Rock and Tuba City left to play. Tuba City has Ganado, Winslow and Chinle left.
