Winslow Bulldogs dominate 3A North All-Region Offense/Defense team selections

The 3A North All Regional Offensive and Defensive Teams has been announced by the region. As might be expected, the Winslow Bulldogs football team reaped an impressive collection of all 3A North Region honors. Those honors included the Coach of the Year and both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Four more Bulldogs were named to both the Offensive and Defensive All Region Teams and two more received Honorable Mentions for each of those teams.

It was not surprising that the Bulldogs gleaned an impressive number of such honors as they were the only team undefeated in regional play and the only one to win a playoff game. In fact, the most closely contested loss in the playoffs by a team from the region was Winslow's 35-28 defeat by Show Low.

The 3A North Region did produce some quality athletes and many are on the All Region Team.

Winslow Coach Rusty Robertson was named the 3A North Region Coach of the Year as his Bulldogs cruised through the region undefeated and ended their season with an impressive 11-2 record after being ousted in the quarterfinals of the 3A Conference Playoffs.

Winslow junior quarterback Kraig Shirley was named the 3A North Region Offensive Player of the Year. He was joined by four more players named to the All Region Offensive Team and two more who received Honorable Mentions for that team.

Winslow senior Ty Hancock was named the 3A North Region Defensive Player of the Year. Winslow had four more players named to the All Region Defensive Team and two more received Honorable Mentions.

Also named to the All 3A North Region Offensive Team from Winslow were junior running back Chayse Russell, senior offensive lineman Ty Hancock, and senior wide receivers Tevin Renfro and Anthony Huerta.
