Winslow boys win 3A North track meet

The Winslow High School boys' track team won the 3A North Region Meet at Kayenta on Saturday with a score of 165. Holbrook was a distant second at 82. Monument Valley was third at 70 followed by Ganado at 65, Chinle at 57, Tuba City at 65 and Window Rock at 33.

Champions in events included Rex Self of Holbrook in the 110 meter high hurdles at 16.21, Matthew Smith of Winslow in the 100 meters at 11.28, Hershel Lester of  Tuba City in the 800 meters at 2:05.71, Matthew Smith of Winslow in the 200 meters at 23.32, Jonathan Yazzie of Chinle in the 1600 meters at 48:48.20, the Winslow 4x100 meter relay team at 44.27, Stacey Berg of Winslow in the 400 meters at 52, Darnell Nodestine of Winslow in the 300 meter hurdles at 45.30, Jonathan Yazzie of Chinle in the 3200 meters at 10:39.32, the Tuba City 4/400 meter relay team at 3:43.04, Rex Self of Holbrook in high jump at 6', Aaron Burbank of Chinle in pole vault at 10'6", Stacey Berg of Winslow in the long jump at 22' 00.75", Stacey Berg of Winslow in the triple jump at 41'06.75", Olin Jones of Holbrook in discus at 123' 06", Jim Morty of Holbrook in shot put at 41'11" and the Ganado 4x800 meter relay team at 3:89.44.
