Hopi High honors outstanding athletes during winter banquet

POLACCA, Ariz. - Hopi High School recently held its winter sports banquet honoring many student athletes.

Those honored were:

Varsity boys basketball:

Tony Pawesiema, MVP; Adrian Curtis, Offensive Player of the Year; Kevin Rivers, Defensive Player of the Year; Kyle Coffman, Most Improved Player; and Paul Quamahongnewa, Scholar-Athlete. Manager Tate Jensen, Scholar-Athlete.

Junior Varsity boys basketball:

Lane Benally, Coach's Award; Kyle Silas, Most Improved Player Award; Kyle Yoyokie, Mr. Hustle Award; Scott Sinquah, Sixth Man Award; and Justin Secakuku, Scholar-Athlete Award.

Freshman boys basketball: Freddie Tom Jr., Bruin Hustle Award; Brandon Barton, Offensive MVP Award; Stephen James, Defensive MVP Award; Danny Curtis, Most Improved Player Award; and Brandon Barton, Scholar-Athlete Award.

Varsity Girls basketball:

Sam Clah, Co-outstanding Player Award: Darice Torrres, Co-Outstanding Player: Cassandra Nash, Ms. Hustle Award; Khrystyl Youvella, Most Improved Player: Nichole Kisto, Co-Lady Bruin Award; Samantha Sekaquaptewa, Co-Lady Bruin Award; Samantha Clah, Scholar-Athlete Award.

Junior varsity girls basketball:

Torri Youvella, Miss Hustle; Trinette Qotswisiwama, Outstanding Player; Newtonya Carl, Bruin Spirit Award; Lindsay Yoyokie, Sixth Man Award; and Uintah Polacca, Scholar-Athlete.
