IRS offers Saturday hours March 21

Area taxpayers may be facing financial hardships and need extra help this year. As a result, the Internal Revenue Service is going the extra mile to help during these difficult economic times.

The Flagstaff IRS office - located at 1633 S. Plaza Way - will offer a taxpayer assistance center 9 a.m.-2 p.m. March 21. IRS employees will offer the following services -

• Answering tax law questions and accepting payment;

• Providing information about electronic filing thru (Free-File) and tax forms;

• Working with taxpayers who are having a hard time paying their taxes, establishing payment agreements;

• Making account adjustments and resolving tax issues (get a letter in the mail from the IRS?); and

• Determining if a taxpayer qualifies for the Earned Income Tax Credit and if so, preparing and filing their federal income tax return electronically for free.

The services are available to all and walk-ins are welcome.
