Winslow Bulldogs defeat Ganado Hornets
Boys improve to 13-6, girls remain undefeated at 19-0

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Ganado Hornets 77-67 in a 3A North Region basketball game played at Winslow on Thursday, Jan. 22. The win improved Winslow's record to 13-6 for the season and 4-2 in the region. Ganado fell to 5-11 for the season and 2-3 in the region.

The Bulldogs led 20-14 after the first quarter and had increased their advantage to 34-21 by the intermission. The Hornets cut the lead to 55-44 after the third quarter and got within five points in the final period before Winslow picked up the pace again and pulled away.

Stacey Berg paced the Bulldog attack with 31 points. Dale Dixon with 15 points and Kraig Shirley with 11 were also in double figures for Winslow. Sherwin Hale of Ganado led all scorers with 36 points. Marcus Begay was also in double figures for the Hornets with 12 points.

Girls game

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Ganado Lady Hornets 71-44 in a 3A North Region basketball game played in Winslow on Thursday. The win kept Winslow undefeated at 19-0 for the season and 6-0 in the region. Ganado fell to 12-8 for the season and 4-4 in the 3A North.

Winslow jumped out to a double digit 18-7 first period lead and had increased the advantage to a commanding 37-18 lead by the intermission. The Lady Bulldogs continued to pull away and led 54-31 after three quarters.

Chrissandria Jackson paced the Winslow attack with 21 points. Kourtney Shirley with 14 points and Raquel Singer with 10 points were also in double figures for the Lady Bulldogs. Lanaya Roanhorse led Ganado with 12 points. Corey Slim was also in double figures with 10 points.
