Bulldog wrestlers second to Holbrook in regionals
The Winslow High School wrestling team finished second to Holbrook in the 3A North Region wrestling meet at Window Rock on Saturday. Holbrook won the meet with a score of 235.5. Winslow was a close second at 208. Window Rock was third at 123.5 just nipping Monument Valley which finished fourth at 122. Chinle was fifth at 77 followed by Tuba City at 20 and Ganado at 19.
Winslow had five individual champions including Jaramillo (103), Eddie Montano (130), Keifer Gilbert (140), Wyatt DeWitt (171) and Zack Young (heavyweight). Bulldog wrestlers who finished second included Anthony Guzman (119), Aaron Baca (135) and Johnny Montano (152). Finishing Third were Bulldogs Singer (112), Payden Zufelt (125) and Pat Young (215). NateTafoya (160) and Justin Yazzie (189) turned in fourth place finishes.
Other division champions included Aguilera (119), Serna (135), Serna (152), Perkins (189) and Sulu (215) of Holbrook, Naswood (125) and Keah-Tigh (160) of Window Rock and Maloney (112) of Monument Valley.
Aguilera of Holbrook was named the outstanding lower weight wrestler. Keah-Tigh of Window Rock was named the outstanding upper weight wrestler. Bokker of Holbrook was named the 3A North Region Coach of the Year.
