Six of the seven 3A North Region teams entered in the Winslow Winter Classic Girls' Basketball Tournament won their opening games on Thursday and advanced to the Championship Bracket which began play on Friday.
The Window Rock Lady Scouts defeated the Joseph City Lady Wildcats 57-30 in an early game on Thursday. The Holbrook Lady Roadrunners also collected an easy win 41-20 over the Hopi Lady Bruins. The defending 3A Conference Champion Monument Valley Lady Mustangs defeated the Greyhills Lady Knights 51-36.
The Tuba City Lady Warriors bested the Williams Lady Vikings 50-33. The Chinle Lady Wildcats more than doubled the Snowflake Lady Lobos 54-24. The Winslow Lady Bulldogs had no trouble with the Pinon Lady Eagles 71-24.
The Ganado Lady Hornets were the only 3A North Region team to lose 53-38 to the Glendale Perry Pumas 53-38.
The results Thursday left a number of 3A North Region teams to meet in the Championship Bracket. Holbrook was to play Monument Valley and Chinle was to meet Winslow. In other games involving 3A North Region teams in that bracket Tuba City was to meet Sedona Red Rock a 50-25 winner over Payson and Window Rock was to meet Glendale Perry. Ganado was to meet Joseph City in a Consolation Bracket game.
