Bulldogs chew up Roadrunners

WINSLOW, Ariz. - The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Holbrook Roadrunners 10-0 in a 3A North Region baseball game played at Winslow on April 21. The win improved Winslow's record to 17-5-2 and kept them undefeated in the region.

Anthony Huerta got the win working the full six innings played and allowing just one hit and two walks while fanning eight.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Wendell Carter blasted a solo home run for a 1-0 Winslow lead. The lead increased to 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Bubba Cuellar singled, Carter walked and Huerta reached on an error. Ty Hancock then blasted a home run. Levi Smith walked and stole second, Jevon Estelle singled.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs scored enough to end the game on the "mercy" rule with a 10-0 win. Vittorio Sells singled, Kraig Shirley tripled, four straight batters walked and Estelle singled.

Smith was three for four at the plate. Hancock was one for two with a home run, as was Carter. Huerta was one for three. Shirley was one for three with a triple. Tommy Gomez and Sells were also one for three.
