PAGE, Ariz. - The Western Agency Summer Series (WASS) held their second rodeo of the season on April 11. Despite tough competition in the PeeWee and Senior Girls Divisions, the biggest event of the day was the Easter Egg Scramble. Over 40 kids collected Easter eggs filled with candy and other "secret prizes."
The WASS committee wishes to thank all the parents who helped with the scramble and provided gift cards, toys, candy and cash prizes to the participants.
WASS is a non-profit committee of parents that promotes junior rodeos for children ages 4 to 18. The events are wooly riding, flag racing, goat un-tagging, barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway and team roping, ribbon and calf roping. The series does not do rough stock (bulls and broncs). Members accumulate points towards year-end awards.
Sixteen rodeos have been scheduled for 2009 with 14 scheduled at the Vermillion Saddle Club in Page. The remaining two events will be held in Kaibeto and Tuba City. Membership is open to any child who meets the age requirements.
The next WASS rodeo is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. DST (9 a.m. Page time) at Vermillion Saddle Club. Admission is free for spectators.
