CCC and NAU team up for College Goal Sunday
FLAGSTAFF - There are millions of dollars available to help students pay for college and, once a year, there is an especially easy way for students and families to apply for those funds. During College Goal Sunday, from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, financial aid officials will be available to help fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form at Coconino Community College's Lone Tree and Page/Lake Powell campuses.
"The event is extremely popular with families in Coconino County," said CCC Financial Aid Director Bob Voytek. "CCC and Northern Arizona University employees work together to help students complete their FAFSA and prepare for college, regardless of where they choose to attend."
Financial aid officials say students and parents should bring their 2007 federal tax returns, W-2 forms and other relevant 2007 income information.
"If you are age 23 or younger, single and have no dependents, bring a parent. Parents can attend with their students, or they can come in place of their students. If you are age 24 or older, married or have dependents, you can attend without a parent. If you haven't completed your 2007 federal income tax return yet, you can estimate your income and then go back later and change your form online," said Voytek
CCC is looking for volunteers to help students fill out forms on that busy day. Last year, College Goal Sunday at Flagstaff and Page served nearly 200 students and their families. "We are happy to train volunteers on the basics of filling out the FAFSA," said Assistant Director of Financial Aid Lisa Hill.
Hill can be contacted at 226-4241.
