Celebrate earth, wind fire and sun April 19

FLAGSTAFF - Installation of our electric wind turbine, alternative fuel vehicle information and tours, hands-on gardening, rain water harvesting, and a free hybrid electric bus shuttle are just some of the activities you will find as Coconino Community College celebrates Earth Day.

Join the fun on Saturday, April 19 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 2800 S. Lone Tree Rd.

CCC will be expanding its sustainability efforts with the installation and dedication of our brand new electric wind generator donated by Southwest Windpower.

Radio stations 107.5 KOLT COUNTRY, 96.7 THE WOLF and 105.1 THE CANYON, are presenting the Hybrid/Alternative Fuels Car Show. Local dealers will display the latest in hybrid vehicle technology and answer all of your questions.

As part of Hybrid/Alternative Fuels Car Show you can walk through Mountain Line Transit's new hybrid electric bus. You can even start your day early at CCC's Earth Day Celebration and then catch a ride on Mountain Line's Hybrid Bus on Route 4 to NAU's and The City of Flagstaff's Earth Day Celebration Events for free.

Be sure to join special guest speakers Carl Taylor, Coconino County Supervisor, and Debby K. Tewa, Arizona Department of Commerce Renewable & Tribal Energy Coordinator, as they discuss sustainability in Flagstaff and Arizona.

Relax in the CCC Commons and watch a special dance performance by the Kinlani Native American Dancing Warriors fresh from their performance at the Super Bowl in Glendale.

Local businesses will be offering sustainable products, and information on green living. See the educational opportunities available in alternative energies and green building at CCC.

Have you always wanted to grow a garden, but don't have the space or know-how? Become part of CCC's Community Garden. As one of the city of Flagstaff Earth Day Community Service Project's volunteers, you will be clearing, cleaning, and planting garden space. You can even learn how to collect and reuse one of nature's resources with our Rain Water Harvesting Demonstrations.

Games, activities, and prizes for the whole family abound! Come and join the fun! This event is free to the public. Volunteers are always welcome.
