Hopi Education Endowment Fund kicks off 2007 Alumni Challenge

For the fourth consecutive year, the Hopi Education Endowment Fund (HEEF) will be holding their annual Alumni Challenge. Three-time champions, the Northern Arizona University (NAU) Lumberjacks will once again defend their Alumni Challenge title. The Lumberjacks will also work to add to their cumulative total of $5,460 raised during the last three years.

The 2007 Challenge encourages friendly rivalry and competition between four alumni groups, NAU, Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, and Out of State & Junior/Community colleges. However, new to this year's challenge will be the inclusion of a category for alumni to pledge on behalf of their high school alma mater, whether it is Hopi, Winslow, Tuba City, Flagstaff, Ganado, Phoenix Indian, Sherman Indian or another high school.

Now through Oct. 19, the HEEF will be accepting pledges with the goal of raising a total of $6,000, the winner will be determined from the alumni group that raises the most funds within the specified time period.

As educational costs continue to rise, the alumni challenge is a great way for Hopi high school and college graduates to become involved in helping to offset educational expenses for future Hopi students. LuAnn Leonard, HEEF Executive Director and NAU alumnus, stated, "This is a great way for Hopi college grads to say thanks and give back to the Hopi Tribe for the scholarship support they received while pursuing their degree(s)." Additionally, all participants will be acknowledged as a supporter of Hopi education and can take pride in knowing that they are helping to secure the future of the Hopi Tribe through education.

To make a contribution on behalf of your alma mater the HEEF is accepting donations via cash, check, money order, and credit/debit card (VISA/MasterCard). The HEEF is a non-profit entity of the Hopi Tribe. All contributions are tax-deductible and all participants will be recognized on our website.

For more information on the alumni challenge or to make a contribution contact the HEEF at (928) 734-2275 or via e-mail at heef@hopieducationfund.org Weekly pledge totals will be posted on the HEEF website at www.hopieducationfund.org.
