Hopi High boys cross country won the regional championship Oct. 27 at Buffalo Park.

There were nine teams that competed in the regional meet.

Hopi High Coach Rick Baker said, "The team ran great and they did what they had to do. The boys ran well as a whole. They had a smart race."

Baker's expectations for state is for the runners to stay healthy, to show up for practice and to train hard. Also he said the runners have to be careful about what they eat and what they do.

Baker had all of his runners for the regional race.

Hopi's Keith Pahovama finished in second place followed by Ronald Laban in third place, Chad Baker in fourth place, Rydell Namoki "ps2" in fifth place, Kevin Tsinigine in sixth place, Brennon "wunnu" Sidney in seventh place, and Anthony Poleyestewa in 21st place.
