TUBA CITY-The Tuba City Unified School District (TCUSD) is constantly upgrading its school buildings and grounds to make a safer, more spacious, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environment for students and staff.

The most recent improvements to the TCUSD come in the form of a new multi-million dollar building that is part of the second phase of new construction for the district. Tuba City High School will have a special dedication, tour and dinner event for the Tuba City and Moencopi communities on Tuesday, May 29 starting at 5:30 p.m. (DST). The public is invited to come and join the TC District administration for this special celebration.

The new wing connects to the existing building and is a direct connection to the new two-story classroom and administrative offices with walkways to the library and commons areas. The new wing will house vocational instruction, including new wood and welding shops, new culinary arts building, new biology and science lab areas with spacious walkways, and an upgraded "student store" area.

As part of the dedication event, there will be a slide presentation of ongoing construction plans and upgrades, as well as a presentation by Tuba City High School's National Championship Drill and Marksmanship ROTC Team, with a formal public posting of all (Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards) AIMS students who have exceeded all three testing areas.

The public will be able to see firsthand what kind of special academic programs are being accommodated by Tuba City District and Tuba City High School.

The next phase of proposed new construction will be two specific areas that will contain an ROTC program area, automotive shop classroom area, and a new wing for classroom instruction that will feature both visual and performing arts programs. This next construction phase is set to begin this fall.

Immediately following the free guest dinner, tours of the new facility will begin.
