Early deadline for Sept. 5 edition of Navajo Hopi Observer

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the following early deadlines will be in place for the Sept. 5 edition of the Navajo Hopi Observer:

• News - due by 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29

• Display Ads - due by 12 noon, Wednesday, Aug. 29

• Legal Advertising - due by 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29

• Classifieds - due by 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29.

The Observer office will be closed Monday, Sept. 3 and re-open at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Meeting to discuss Western Navajo Agency Senior Citizen Home

Attend the meeting to discuss the establishment of a residential home for senior citizens at 10 a.m., today, Aug. 8, at the Tuba City Senior Citizen Center. Event organizers anticipate local leaders and health care providers to be in attendance. Little Singer Community School now enrolling

The Little Singer Community School is now enrolling for the 2007/2008 school year in kindergarten through eighth grade and the Family and Child Education Program. The school has certified teachers, small class size, after school sports and activities, prenatal to 5-year-old programs, Special Needs programs and a GED program.

Documents needed to enroll include: Little Singer enrollment forms, current immunization records, Certificate of Indian Blood, Social Security card and birth certificate. Navajo County to assist residents in obtaining birth certificates

The Navajo Public Health Services District can assist area residents with Arizona birth certificates. The Health District can provide to eligible parents, Arizona birth certificates for children born between 1990 to present for a $10 charge. The Health District may also be able to assist with other Arizona birth certificate issues.

The Health District can only process birth certificates from the Holbrook office. In order to further assist area residents, the Vital Records office travels to other locations. If the Health District is able to process the birth certificate, it is mailed to residents from the Holbrook office. For more information contact Karen at (928) 524-4750.

Navajo Nation DOJ Anniversary Celebration

Created in 1982, the Navajo Nation Department of Justice will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at 8 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10 at the Sports Center in Window Rock. The public is welcome to celebrate with the Navajo Nation Department of Justice employees and former employees as the employees' outstanding leadership and legal services to the Navajo Nation are celebrated. Operation Vet-Fest 2007 in Wheatfields Lake

The Department of Navajo Veterans Affairs is hosting Operation: Vet-Fest 2007 through Thursday, Aug. 9, in Wheatfields Lake.
