Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs to host Indian Nations Tribal Legislation Day
PHOENIX - The Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs (ACIA) will host the 2007 Indian Nations Tribal Legislative Day at the capitol from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The Indian Nations and Tribes Legislative Day is an opportunity for tribal governments and the Arizona Indian community to be active participants in the legislative process. The ACIA has a statutory obligation to host the event (A.R.S. § 41-544) and invites the Arizona Legislature, Governor and other elected officials "to pay tribute to the history and culture of the American Indian peoples and their contributions to the prosperity and cultural diversity of the United States".
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with legislators, attend legislative committee meetings and informational sessions that are being put on by various state agencies and departments.
There is no cost to participate; however, the ACIA strongly recommends pre-registration for the event by contacting Lorie Wells at (602) 542-3123 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
