Santa announces reservation holiday event schedules
Hubbell Trading Post Luminaria lighting
Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site in Ganado will host the Annual Community Holiday Luminaria Event from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6. Come and visit with Santa while enjoying the warm atmosphere and refreshments that will be served in the visitor center. Enjoy the music by Members of the Ganado Middle School Band and Choir. Shonto Prep School announces holiday events
Shonto Prep School will host the following events during December: Winter Bazaar, beginning at 4 p.m., Dec. 6; co-ed volleyball tournament, Dec. 29; and the 8th Annual Powwow, Dec. 30-31. Tuba City Christmas Bazaar scheduled
Tuba City High School will hold its Christmas Bazaar in the Tuba City High School cafeteria, from 5 - 10 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12. All vendors are welcome including those selling arts, crafts, baked goods and more. Table spaces are $15 and $20 for food vendors. To reserve a space contact the high school at (928) 283-1045.
Willow Bend family gift-making event
Give a gift to the earth this holiday season. Families with children of all ages are welcome to make environmentally-friendly gifts from 12-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Willow Bend Environmental Education Center, 703 E. Sawmill Road in Flagstaff. Each gift will reuse materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Find out how "trash" can be beautiful and useful with just a little creativity! All supplies are provided. A $5 donation for materials is kindly requested. This is a drop-in event and there is no need to sign up. For more information call (928) 779-1745.
Winterfest Celebration of Native storytelling at Museum of Indian Arts and Culture
Winterfest is a special community holiday celebration featuring Native American storytelling, dance performances and hands-on bookmaking activities.
Since winter is an appropriate time for most Native Americans to tell stories the program will include invited guest authors Evangeline Parsons Yazzie, Serafine Yazzie-Takala, and illustrator Irving Toddy. Visitors will have a chance to hear individual readings and perspectives and a panel discussion about their work in children's literature. Events will be held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, 710 Camino Lejo off Old Santa Fe Trail on Museum Hill in Santa Fe, N.M. Events are free to school groups, children 16 and younger, New Mexico residents with identification and to Museum Foundation members. Students with identification receive a $1 discount. Chinle Christmas Bazaar
A Christmas Bazaar will be held Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Chinle Elementary School gymnasium. On Friday, set up will begin at 3 p.m. and the event will take place from 4-9 p.m. On Saturday, set up will begin at 11 a.m. and the event will take place from 12 noon-9 p.m. Tables are $15 for both days or $10 for one day. Kinlani Dorm Christmas Bazaar
Spend your day holiday shopping from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Kinlani Bordertown Dormitory, 901 Kinlani Road in Flagstaff. Crafts from Native vendors will be featured and foods including Navajo tacos, hominy stew, hotdogs, chili dogs, frybread, nachos, cold sodas and coffee will be served. Vendor fees will be $40 and donation of item for raffle. Tables and chairs are available for $10. The Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development will host a Christmas Bazaar from 12 noon-4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Karigan Professional Office Complex second floor conference room in St. Michaels.
