Thank you from President Shirley

On behalf of my family, my Vice President-Elect, Mr. Ben Shelly, and our entire campaign staff, I would like to thank all the Navajo voters for exercising their right to vote in our 2006 Navajo Nation election.

Naturally, I would especially like to thank all the voters who supported our ticket, and expressed a desire to continue with our leadership for the next four years.

I would also like to thank the challenger, Mrs. Lynda Lovejoy and Walter Phelps, for their kinds words to us on election night. Ahe'hee, Mrs. Lovejoy.

With the results of the national election, I am extremely optimistic that our second term will be fruitful on the national level as well as here at home.

I am humbled and pleased by the Navajo people's expression of confidence in our leadership. No Navajo CEO has been re-elected to office since 1978, so I take this expression of the people's desire with sincerity.

We will continue to work on behalf of the people with heart, integrity, diplomacy, and a sacredness of mind because we believe the Navajo people deserve no less and expect no less.

So, from Vice President-Elect Ben Shelly, Martha Shelly, Navajo Nation First Lady Vikki Shirley and myself, I thank you all again, and look forward to rolling up my sleeves to work hard to continue to make this the GREAT NAVAJO NATION. Ahe'hee!
